About Newcastle Food Month

Newcastle Food Month is 30 days of culinary worship featuring local chefs, eateries and producers.

During the month of April, we will celebrate our homegrown foodie scene that continues to grow from strength to strength. Having the Hunter Valley and Port Stephens in our backyard means our glasses and plates are filled with fresh delicious ingredients presented by talented chefs and restaurateurs here in Newcastle.

The burgeoning dining scene has grown into its own in recent years. Cafes, bars, restaurants and hotel kitchens continue to pop up across the city with a serious sense of local identity and provenance, on and off the plate. That is certainly worthy of a month-long toast.

So, here are the ways you can join in the feast. There are three main concepts; Feature Events, Plate Date, and our headline signature event, Le Dîner en Blanc.

Feature Events fill April’s calendar. Newcastle venues, providores and community organisations have creative license in curating foodie events to remember. Everything from masterclasses with renowned Newcastle Chefs through to unique collaboration events between restaurants, wineries and more!

Plate Date gives you permission to embark on a month-long food tour of our incredible and diverse food scene. Restaurants, Cafes, Pubs and Clubs design a deal for breakie, lunch or dinner, matched with a beverage, alcoholic or non, for an incredible $25pp. It’s a no-brainer reason to try something new or a perfect excuse to visit your tried and tested favourite!

Le Dîner en Blanc, the Signature Event of Newcastle Food Month, is famous for it’s all-white dress code and surprise location. Experience an incredible and unique pop-up dinner at a secret location in our beautiful City.
