Recently named Halliday Winemaker of the Year and NSW Wine of the Year, First Creek arrives with an award-winning tasting flight that is sure to impress.

Indulge in a flight of four wines aptly named “Ask for NSW Best”, which together have amassed an incredible seven trophies, including NSW Wine of the Year, NSW Best White Wine, NSW Best Chardonnay, NSW Best Alternative Wine, and NSW Best Rosé.

Settle in at your own pace and sip your way through the flight in the relaxed elegance of Ms Mary. With a beautiful outdoor terrace, striking architectural design, and a distinctly Newcastle energy, it is the perfect setting for a city cellar door moment that feels both polished and approachable.

Enjoy a seven-course seafood menu with matching Usher Tinkler Wines from the Hunter Valley, poured course by course. Start with oysters topped with nashi apple brunoise and ume honey chantilly, then savour koji anchobi on grilled sushi rice and silky ika somen with chilled sudachi–scallop mentsuyu. A nigiri trio follows—akagai, hotate, and hokkigai—before a mentaiko ebi sando and sesame‑ginger mekajiki zuke with sea greens. Finish sweetly with strawberry hanami dango, linger over the views, and toast the afternoon. Limited seats—book early and relax.

An intimate long lunch celebrating cake, creativity, and one of Australia’s most loved dessert voices, as Emelia Jackson comes to Newcastle and Roundhouse for a special book launch event during Newcastle Food Month.

MasterChef: Back to Win champion, pastry chef, and author Emelia Jackson is the brains (and butter) behind beloved baking books Cream the Butter and Sugar and Some of My Best Friends Are Cookies, as well as her deliciously anticipated new release, You Had Me At Cake. Emelia’s baking is playful, indulgent, and full of heart, because life really is sweeter with cake and cookies by your side.

Set high above the city at Roundhouse on the rooftop of Crystalbrook Kingsley, guests will be welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine before settling in for a three-course lunch inspired by Emelia’s latest book. Crystalbrook Kingsley Executive Chef Joey Ingram will collaborate with Emelia on a menu that balances refined savoury courses with joyful nods to her signature dessert style, paired with First Creek Wines.

Throughout the lunch, Emelia will share stories from her culinary journey and the making of You Had Me At Cake in a live Q&A, offering insight into her love of baking, creativity, and the simple pleasure of sharing something sweet. Copies of You Had Me At Cake will be available to purchase on the day, with time after the lunch for book signings and a chance to meet Emelia.

A relaxed, indulgent afternoon for anyone who believes there is always room for dessert.
