Opera at the Pub – “The Telephone” by Newcastle Music Festival
A sensational night of fine food at FogHorn Brewery with entertainment by Newcastle Music Festival, presenting the very comic, intimate chamber opera, “The Telephone”, by Gian Carlo Menotti (and yes, it’s in English).
This Broadway hit of the late 1940s brings all the style and panache of that era. Can the young man ‘pop the question’ when his intended spends all her time on the phone? The opera eerily anticipates modern-day phone dilemmas, as Ben tries to propose to Lucy, his efforts frustrated by numerous phone calls. Samanta Lestavel (soprano) and Tristan Entwistle (baritone) are the performers, with Claire Howard Race accompanying on piano.
Tickets include a two-course meal, drink on arrival, and the show. Numbers are limited so book now.
