Newcastle Seafood Festival
The Throsby Basin area has long been regarded as the seafood capital of Newcastle, based around the five villages of Carrington, Islington, Maryville, Tighes Hill and Wickham, including the iconic Newcastle Seafood Markets.
The Newcastle Seafood Festival will be showcasing why it is the seafood capital of Newcastle. You decide who is the best. From Friday lunch 9th April to Sunday dinner on the 11th April over 30 Pubs, clubs, restaurants and takeaways in the area will be putting on their best, most creative and impressive seafood dishes to wow your taste buds.
They will all be vying for your endorsement as the best Seafood dish in the region. Try a dish at a participating venue, vote and you will go into the draw for a Five Star Seafood experience weekend in Sydney.
The highlight of the weekend will be the Seafood Co-Op open day on Saturday 10th April. Walk the marina, meet the fisherman and view their boats, tour the back of house to see how they prepare the seafood, and of course buy some great seafood to enjoy with a picnic along the foreshore.
On Sunday 11th there will be a family catch and release fishing competition and an all-ages art competition to see who can capture the essence of the Basin foreshore. There will be the walking master class from 10am where you can learn tips for the regions top seafood chefs.
If you love seafood you will love this weekend in the five villages of the Throsby Basin.
